Sunday July 12th, 2020, from 8am-8pm

The L.A. Fruit-Share is a call to harvest and share the abundant backyard fruit that sits in our backyards, just waiting to be consumed. This is a grassroots effort to combat food insecurity, and inspire community in a time of isolation. 1 in 9 LA County residents are currently experiencing food insecurity, and up to 40% of America’s food supply goes to waste.

On July 12th, residents will harvest their homegrown produce and create a public display in front of their homes. Participants with trees will give, but everyone and anyone can get: walk your neighborhood streets and collect as much fruit as you want/need, from peaches to limes, to figs, ripe for the taking.

Additional social content to include:

  • Participants share their offerings on social, tagging @LAFruitShare and #LAFruitShare
  • Competition for biggest harvest, best fruit display and rarest fruit variety, with a prize of a Plant Planet Baggu tote, and Salad for President cookbook
  • Seasonal fruit recipes, culled from the community and L.A. chefs shared on @LAFruitShare
  • Educational content with Fruitstitute: how to identify, harvest and store fruit like pro
