LA Fruit Share 2020

- LA Fruite Share
With over 1000 participants, the L.A. Fruit Share was a special day.
We began by picking an overachieving Oro Blanco tree in Joanna Glovinsky’s backyard, filling buckets and trucking them down the hillside to the sidewalk. As soon as we got down there, there were cars pulling up and pickers trickling in by foot. It was working! Hundreds people across this sprawling city, from Venice to Alta Dena, took the time to decorate boxes and share their backyard fruit with neighbors and strangers alike. And more importantly, over 1000 people registered to collect fruit. In a time when it can feel impossible to hold a positive outlook on life, we saw people come together, break out of their quarantine echo chambers, and feed one another.
